Woodbridge, VA (April 13, 2017) Kitchen Table Literary Arts Center and MahoganyBooks are proud to announce their new partnership in commitment to enhance the community and platform for writers of color. These two organizations will be collaborating to introduce innovative literary workshops and classes featuring an online component for writers of color looking to perfect their craft, publish their own work, and connect with other writers. In addition to programming collaborations, Kitchen Table Literary Arts has joined the affiliate program at MahoganyBooks, a program that invites community-building and shared market growth.

Working with the great folks at Kitchen Table Literary Arts allows us to not just meet the needs of readers through our online store, but to also provide unique writing workshops that address the specific needs of the African American writer.”
Both organizations support and strongly believe in the positive effects of both the reading and creating of literature by people of color.

The name Kitchen Table was selected to pay homage to the Kitchen Table Press which was founded in 1980 by writer, activist, and scholar Barbara Smith. Smith’s work brazenly paved the way for many black women poets, writers, and essayists, encouraging their creative voices.
