MahoganyBooks is excited to welcome award-winning writer, Tracy Chiles McGhee to Sankofa Video, Books & Cafe on December 17, 2016 at 4PM. Join Tracy as she makes her debut at the celebrated Sankofa bookstore, located on historic Georgia Ave. in Washington DC, across from Howard University.

Ms. McGhee will discuss her new book, Melting the Blues, which examines the complexities of identity, yearnings for love and acceptance, and racial tension in this riveting literary drama.

Join us in the same location which has hosted renowned authors like Sonia Sanchez, Haki Madhubuti, and Ta-Nehisi Coates, among others.

About the Author

qwtTracy Chiles McGhee is an award-winning, multi-genre writer and the author of the novel Melting the Blues, which Kirkus Reviews describes as a “A brave, musical story rich with Southern history.” McGhee is the Winner of the 2016 Jessie Redmon Fauset Book Award in the category of First Fiction and the Recipient of the 2016 BIG Greater Orange County Chapter/Amber Communications Group, Inc. 4th Annual Literary Award. She received an Honorable Mention in the 2016 Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards in the category of Mainstream Literary Fiction. She was a Finalist in the 2014 William Faulkner – William B. Wisdom Creative Writing Competition in the Novel-in-Progress category. In addition, she received an Honorable Mention for the Penelope Niven Creative Nonfiction Award in the 2014 International Literary Awards presented by Salem College. She is the Co-Founder of the Literacy Empowerment Action Project. In addition, she is an Ambassador for the National Museum of African-American History and Culture. McGhee graduated from Catholic University Law School and Georgetown University and currently lives in Washington, DC.  Her webpage is tracychilesmcghee.us.
