MahoganyBooks Interviews Jason Reynolds & Brendan Kiely

The state of Maryland presented One Maryland One Book (OMOB), a program of the Maryland Center for the Book at Maryland Humanities, that encourages readers to participate in book-centered discussions and related programs at public libraries, high schools, colleges, museums, bookstores, and community and senior centers around the state.

This years book, All-American Boys, was chosen by a committee of librarians, educators, authors, and parents from more than 125 titles suggested last fall. As the designated bookseller for the Prince George’s County leg of the book tour, we had a chance to catch up with both Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely at Oxon Hill Library to ask them a few questions.

One of those questions touched on the books that most impacted them as writers. Jason identified two African American books, one current and one classic. Which books did they chose?
