It’s a Summer Reading Spectacular featuring MahoganySpines

A Special Summer Reading Bookclub for Kids 10 & Up

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

(L) MahoganyBooks, Co-Founder, Ramunda Young; (R) Founder of Spines & Vines, Jamise Harper

We are excited to launch MahoganySpines, a special summer reading bookclub for kids 10 & up in partnership with our friends at Spines & Vines! Thanks to their generous donation of 25 books, kids can pick up a free copy in-store of our kick-off title, Sunny, by Jason Reynolds.

Join us July 10th from 6-7pm to say hi & grab your book. Each child who reads and joins us for the book discussion and party in August will be in for a special surprise!

Our goal is to make reading exciting and enjoyable! Research shows that kids who read over the summer gain 52 Lexile points ahead of their peers who do not. So instead of losing knowledge and skills during the summer months, kids who attend reading programs actually show gains.

Bring in your kids to pick up their free book while supplies last from MahoganyBooks, located at 1231 Good Hope Rd. SE, Washington DC, inside the Anacostia Arts Center. Have them finish it in about 30 days, then join us for an amazing discussion about Sunny!

Happy Reading! and special shout out to Jamise of Spines and Vines who wanted to share her love of reading with little ones and partner with us.
