January 2, 2019 appearance discussing my favorite books from 2018

So many books, so little time. Truly…I’ve been working as a bookseller for a very long time and it never ceases to amaze me with the number of books that I’m constantly adding to my ‘To Read’ list. Whether it’s a newly published book I’m merchandising in the store, adding two our website, or a classic title one of our customers recommend to me…my list is an ever growing source of excitement and frustration.

Again…So many books, so little time!

Although I didn’t get to read everything I wanted to in 2018, I can definitely say I read some incredible books. Titles like Zora Neale Hurstons’ Barracoon left an indelible mark on my spirit and Dr. Paul Ortizs’ An African American and Latinx History of the United States is one of the most important history books I’ve ever read.

I had an opportunity to relay some of these thoughts to David Whetstone, a board member of the Hurston Wright Foundation, in a prior conversation which led to an invite to appear on a show he hosts on WPFW 89.3 FM. As many people know — some to their delight…others not so much — I genuinely enjoy discussing books and their impact.

Take a listen and let me know your thoughts below in the comments section. What where you’re favorite reads from an author who isn’t you?
